Following his dominance throughout the season and earning $12,000 for each shot, the best golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, was awarded a bonus of $25 million.

A green jacket for the Masters and a gold medal from the Olympics are both in Atlanta. When he was detained for the first time, he was also a first-time father. A year that Scottie Scheffler will never forget came to a successful conclusion on Sunday, when he not only won the FedEx Cup but also capped off the best season that golf has had in nearly twenty years.

Scheffler claimed his eighth victory of the year by winning the Tour Championship by a margin of four shots. "If you can describe it in words, more power to you," Scheffler stated after his triumph. "Because I don't think I can."

As is customary, his clubs conveyed a great deal of information.

Scheffler, who had a lead of up to seven strokes at East Lake early on in the final round, came dangerously close to hitting a tee shot out of bounds on the seventh hole, which resulted in a bogey. He then proceeded to make another bogey by shanking the ball from the bunker on the eighth hole, which was a par-4 and was within his reach. In the race against Collin Morikawa, his lead was reduced to two shots.

When Scheffler was faced with the par-3 ninth hole, which had only produced nine birdies over the whole week, he hammered a four-iron to five feet for the first of three consecutive birdies that led him to a score of four under par 67 and the FedEx Cup trophy, which is the richest championship in golf with a prize pool of $25 million.

"All I'm trying to do is hit a good shot," he explained to reporters. "This year, I've been able to do that a lot."

As a result of the triumph, his total earnings for the season, which include bonuses, came to slightly about $62.3 million.

Following Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh as the only players since the year 2000 to win at least seven PGA Tour events in a single season, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler became the third player to accomplish this feat by winning the Tour Championship. It was the best year since Tiger Woods won eight times in 2006, including six consecutive majors and two majors, all while suffering with the death of his father. It was the finest year since Tiger Woods won so many times. The Masters, The Players Championship, an Olympic gold medal, and the Tour Championship, which allowed Scheffler to ultimately win the FedEx Cup, were among the eight victories that Scheffler achieved.

Since Woods in 2007, he has won seven PGA Tour titles, making him the leading winner.

"We'll look back on 2024 and it's obviously one of the best individual years that a player has had for a long time," Rory McIlroy stated to reporters.

For example, Adam Scott, who tied for fourth place in the FedEx Cup, turned professional during the height of Tiger Woods's career in the year 2000. Scott did not shy away from the comparisons that Scheffler has welcomed because of his consistent level of competing ability.

"I think it is on par with those great years of Tiger's," Scott stated to reporters. "I believe that it is quite difficult for anyone to distance yourself as much as Scottie has done in this day and age. I don't believe that has happened to us in a very long time. I believe that it is more difficult to accomplish it in the present day.

The tension that had been building up over the last hour was eventually put to rest when Scheffler finally let out a 'WOOO!!' as he came inside to sign his card. This is because four of Scheffler's victories this year were by three shots or more. He held up two significant prizes, the silver FedEx Cup and his son Bennett, who was only four months old at the time.

It was a lot of work, however.

In this particular year, Scheffler arrived at East Lake with the top seed for the third consecutive year. This meant that he began the tournament with a score of ten under par and a two-shot lead. It was two years ago when he was defeated by McIlroy in the final round, losing a six-shot lead.

Despite the fact that he did not win the FedEx Cup trophy, he has been named the player of the year on the PGA Tour for the past two seasons. "It definitely leaves a bad taste in your mouth at the end of the year," he stated to reporters.

In spite of the fact that things became more complicated as storm clouds began to threaten, Scheffler was adamant that this would not be the case. It was the two-shot swing on No. 8 that was the most nerve-wracking. Morikawa pumped his fist with a birdie as Scheffler's shank resulted to a bogey.

Thereafter, it came to an end.

After making a birdie on the ninth hole, Scheffler made a birdie on the tenth hole by hitting his wedge to three feet, and then he made a birdie putt on the eleventh hole, which was 15 feet away.

"He's not going to just starting making bogeys after that," Morikawa explained to reporters. On the contrary, he is going to start hitting golf strokes. He is going to perform the opposite action. For a fraction of a second, it almost pulled his attention back to the task at hand, and that is something that cannot be taught.

Without any further delay, his lead had been restored to five shots. And when he connected with an eagle putt that was 15 feet long on the fourteenth hole, all that remained was for him to make it to the finish line in time to celebrate.

In his 19 starts, Scheffler only finished outside of the top 10 three times when he was competing. To add to his seven PGA Tour victories, he also finished in second place in two different competitions.

It was Justin Thomas who made the statement, "He is the guy to beat every single week." "I don't think people understand how hard that is to do, when you're expected to win, when you're the favourite to win, when every single thing you're doing is being looked at -- good and bad -- on the golf course, and how hard it is to get in your own little zone and own little world and truly just quiet the noise."

At the end of the tournament, Morikawa, who was the seventh seed and had began the competition six strokes behind, finished with a score of 66 and recorded the lowest score of the Tour Championship, twenty-two under par. Because he finished in second place in the FedEx Cup, he was awarded $12.5 million.

"Six shots behind was hard against the best player in the world," Morikawa explained to reporters. "I tried."

In the final round, Sahith Theegala finished third with a score of 64. On Saturday, he called a two-shot penalty on himself for maybe brushing a small piece of sand on a bunker shot. He finished in third place, two shots behind Morikawa, and received a bonus of $7.5 million for reaching that position.

And to think that Scheffler was being questioned about his putting just over five months ago, when he was coming up on a full year since his last PGA Tour win, is a remarkable way to think about the situation. During his time in the Bahamas, he triumphed in the unofficial Hero World Challenge.

His earnings for the season was $29,228,356, which was approximately 9.2% of the total purse of $317.4 million that he won from the tournaments that he participated in. Woods was awarded $10,867,052 in 2007, which is around 9.7% of the total prize money of $112.5 million.

During the year 2000, which is still considered to be one of the best seasons in golf history, Woods won approximately 11.6% of the total prize money in tournaments that he participated in.

The FedEx Cup reward of $25 million is not officially recognised, and neither is the $8 million that Scheffler was awarded by the "Comcast Business Top 10" for finishing in first place during the regular season.

The FedEx Cup trophy was a fantastic way to cap off an incredible season, and it felt like a prized possession in its own right.

Despite the fact that it has been a very eventful year, Scheffler stated that it has been a really great year.
